    This page explains how Humax AI Inc. handles email communications and complies with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA). It applies alongside our Privacy Policy.

    1. Why this page exists

    Canada has one of the strictest anti-spam laws in the world. Under CASL, any business sending a "commercial electronic message" to a Canadian inbox must:

    1. Have consent to send it
    2. Identify themselves clearly
    3. Provide a functional unsubscribe mechanism

    Penalties for non-compliance can reach $1,000,000 per violation for individuals and $10,000,000 for businesses. We take it seriously, and this page explains exactly what we do — so you know what to expect, and so you can hold us accountable.


    2. The kinds of email we send

    We send three categories of email. Each is governed by different rules.

    2.1 Transactional emails

    Sent automatically when you take an action with us. These are not promotional and you cannot opt out of them while you're an active customer.

    • Order confirmation when you purchase a program
    • Program access details (login, course link)
    • Password reset
    • Refund confirmation
    • Receipts for tax purposes
    • Important account or service notices

    2.2 Course communications

    Sent to enrolled students about their program — schedule reminders, lesson releases, community announcements, the certificate at the end. You can opt out, but doing so may mean missing important program information.

    2.3 Marketing and newsletter

    Sent only if you've explicitly opted in. This includes our newsletter, new program announcements, and gentle invitations to free resources. You can unsubscribe any time and we honor it within 10 business days (CASL allows up to 10; we usually process within 24 hours).


    3. How to unsubscribe

    Every commercial email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it.

    • The link works for at least 60 days after the email is sent (a CASL requirement)
    • Unsubscribing takes effect within 10 business days at most, usually within 24 hours
    • You can unsubscribe from marketing emails while still receiving transactional and course emails — they're separate lists

    If the link isn't working, or if you'd rather contact a human, write to connect@humaxai.ca with the subject line "Unsubscribe" and the email address you'd like removed. We'll handle it manually within 5 business days.


    4. How we get your consent

    We use both forms of consent recognized under CASL.

    4.1 Express consent

    You give us express consent when you:

    • Tick an opt-in checkbox on our newsletter signup form
    • Tick an opt-in checkbox during checkout to receive marketing
    • Reply to an email confirming you'd like to be added to a list
    • Send us a written request to be added

    We do not use pre-checked boxes. Every consent is an active, deliberate action by you.

    We keep a record of:

    • The date and time consent was given
    • The form or page where it was given
    • The exact wording you saw
    • Your IP address (for fraud prevention)

    4.2 Implied consent

    Under CASL, we have implied consent to send commercial email to you if you've:

    • Made a purchase or asked about a program in the last 2 years
    • Made an inquiry, request, or application related to our services in the last 6 months

    Implied consent expires. Once it does, we can no longer email you marketing material unless we obtain express consent. Transactional and course emails continue regardless.

    4.3 What we do not rely on

    • We do not buy email lists
    • We do not scrape email addresses from public sites
    • We do not use "consent" obtained through deceptive forms or hidden checkboxes
    • We do not assume consent from someone visiting our website without signing up

    5. What every commercial email from us includes

    By law (and by principle), every marketing email from Humax AI includes:

    • Sender identification: "Humax AI Inc." or a recognizable variant
    • Our mailing location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
    • A reply-to address: typically connect@humaxai.ca
    • An unsubscribe link that works for at least 60 days
    • A clear, accurate subject line that describes the content of the email

    Transactional emails include the same sender identification, mailing location, and reply-to address — but may not include an unsubscribe link, since they relate to a service you've explicitly purchased.


    6. Our sender identity

    When you receive an email from us, you should see one of these sender identifiers:

    If you receive an email claiming to be from Humax AI but using a different domain (such as @humaxai.com or @humax-ai.net), it is not from us. Do not click links or share information. Forward suspected spoofing to connect@humaxai.ca so we can investigate.


    7. How long we keep email records

    Per PIPEDA and CASL record-keeping requirements:

    Record Retention
    Express consent records (date, form, wording, IP) 3 years from last consent
    Implied consent triggers (purchases, inquiries) 7 years (per Canadian tax retention rules)
    Unsubscribe records 3 years from unsubscribe date
    Email delivery logs 14 months
    Email open and click data 14 months, then anonymized

    Records exist only to demonstrate compliance and to prevent re-adding someone who has unsubscribed. They are never sold or shared.


    8. Children

    We do not knowingly send marketing email to anyone under 18. Course-related transactional emails are sent only to the named account holder, who must be 18 or older. See our Privacy Policy §8.


    9. Email service providers we use

    We use Shopify Email (and Shopify's transactional email service for receipts) to send our emails. Our email provider may set tracking pixels to record opens and clicks for our marketing emails — this is anonymous in aggregate and helps us understand which content is useful. Transactional emails do not use behavioral tracking.

    10. Concerns and complaints

    If you believe we've sent you an unsolicited email, sent email after you unsubscribed, or otherwise violated CASL or PIPEDA:

    1. Write to connect@humaxai.ca with the subject line "Email Compliance Concern" and include the email's date, subject, and the address you received it at. We will investigate and respond within 15 business days.
    2. You may also report concerns to:
      - Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (PIPEDA): priv.gc.ca
      - Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CASL): crtc.gc.ca
      - Spam Reporting Centre (Canada): fightspam.gc.ca

    We commit to engaging with any regulatory inquiry in good faith and to fixing any compliance gap promptly.


    11. Changes to this page

    We may update this page as Canadian law evolves or as we change email providers. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent version. Material changes are also reflected in our Privacy Policy.
